With a Bachelor of Business from University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Andrew has been formally involved in the radio communications industry since 1996 when he joined what today is Vertel. Andrew has led the development of Vertel from a site and two-way radio company to a niche telecommunications carrier.
In 2015 Andrew moved to the role of Executive Director. His focus is now on achieving Vertel’s vision through strategic alliances with major customers in the Education, Health and Government sectors. Part of this strategic focus has been the creation of a separate 'enterprise innovation accelerator business'. Andrew will use this entity to undertake specific innovation projects for Vertel and its customers.
As well as championing Vertel, Andrew is on the APAC marketing group for the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF), is a committee member for the Australian Radio Communications Industry Association (ARCIA) and a representative for commercial radio users to Australian Communications and Media Association (ACMA).

Theo Belekas was appointed Managing Director of Vertel in July 2015. He is responsible for the overall performance and leadership of all company operations and execution of the company strategy.
Theo has over 25 years of commercial experience gained working for leading multinational technology vendors including Alcatel-Lucent and NCR as well as other Australian-based ICT companies. Before joining Vertel in 2010 he was the CFO of the Integ Group (a UXC Ltd Company) and was instrumental in the growth of the company through numerous acquisitions.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Accounting and Information Systems) is a Fellow of the Australian Society of CPAs, a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Kaplan and Norton Certified Graduate.
Theo BelekasManaging Director
Alex holds a bachelor of telecommunications and boasts more than 20 years of experience in Network Design, delivering solutions to complex carrier grade telecommunications architectures in Australia. Prior to joining Vertel Alex was the Principal Network Architect at AAPT responsible for design and development of the National Transmission network. Since 2010 he has run Vertel Engineering and Design Team, building the new National IP/MPLS network and designing innovative solutions to provide telecommunication services in challenging environments underserved by fibre infrastructure.

Andrew holds a bachelor in Business majoring in Accounting and is a member of the Australian Societies of CPAs. Prior to joining Vertel, Andrew began his finance career in 1996 within the chartered firm Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu before entering commercial roles with Hoyts Cinemas in Sydney followed by Barclays Bank in London. In 2007 Andrew entered the technology industry as Financial Controller for US-listed companies VeriSign and PayPal before joining Vertel in 2013 as Financial Controller. Andrew now holds the position of Director of Business Operations, responsible for finance and commercial operations at Vertel.

Kate joined Vertel in 2011 and has been instrumental in helping create Vertel's high performance culture and motivated team approach to our business. Kate is passionate about recruiting and developing talent across diverse areas of our business. She began her career working as an analyst in the graduate program for Conoco Phillips in London and then went on to run advertising sales teams for high profile multi-platform portfolios at Pacific Publications (Seven). Kate holds a Bachelor degree from Sydney University and an Advanced Diploma in Advertising and Marketing from Macquarie Graduate School of Management. She is responsible for the HR and training and development function within Vertel.

After completing a Bachelor of Business Management at The University of Queensland Michael entered the telecommunications industry with AAPT. Joining Vertel in 2008 Michael’s first project was the set-up of Vertel’s National Operations Centre (NOC). In 2011 Michael assumed the role of Business Systems Manager and is now Director of Quality and Systems, responsible for both the management and development of Vertel’s systems and the development and implementation of new processes and procedures to streamline Vertel and improve efficiency.

Trevor has over 30 years of international experience in telecommunications in various senior management roles, including chief engineer of a large telecoms operator in South Africa, technical director for an US-headquartered microwave supplier and COO of an international software company, headquartered in London. Early on in his career he worked for Nokia, in Italy, as a research engineer and has continued pioneering innovative microwave solutions having recently led a team in Vertel that designed and built the world longest Ethernet radio link. Trevor is the author of a best selling, classic textbook on microwave radio design, published by Artech House.
Trevor has held various roles within Vertel since 2010 and currently runs the field operations and delivery side of the business, as well as serving on the company’s advisory board. He has been running various technical and leadership programmes at Oxford University (UK) and the University of Wisconsin (US) for over 20 years and currently runs various leadership modules that form part of a Masters in Engineering Management degree in the continuing development department at the University of Wisconsin. Trevor has also recently published a number of leadership books and continues to help coach and develop the current and emerging leaders in Vertel.
Trevor ManningDirector of Operations
Tony is responsible for Vertel’s strategy in supporting all levels of Government sales within Australia. He is responsible for understanding clients’ strategic and tactical telecommunications requirements. Tony has had a long career in the Information & Communications Technology industry both domestically and internationally and has worked extensively with Government (Local, State and Federal) agencies as well as with many of Australia’s top corporate organisations. Prior to joining Vertel Tony worked with other organisations including Optus, Cable & Wireless and IBM. Tony holds a Bachelor of Science (Physics) degree with First Class Honours from Monash University, a Master of Business Administration from the Australian Graduate School of Management and is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
