Vertel has once again been recognised by the global carrier Ethernet community, as the winner in the Enterprise Application of the Year for Education category in the annual MEF (Metro Ethernet Forum) Excellence Awards for 2016.
MEF, the driving force enabling agile, assured, and orchestrated Third Network services, announced Winners for the MEF 2016 Excellence Awards, which recognize service, application, technology, and professional excellence and innovation in the global Third Network community.
The Awards program is the largest in the world focused on advanced Carrier Ethernet services and emerging Third Network services powered by CE 2.0, LSO (Lifecycle Service Orchestration), NFV, and SDN networking technologies.
Vertel’s award was given for its WAN project connecting 89 schools across 5 major regions covering Broken Bay, Lismore, Maitland-Newcastle, Wollongong, Canberra and Goulburn. The WAN network provided critical connectivity to the schools in regional and remote locations with a combination of primary connections and redundant links using apparatus licensed microwave access and our independent/redundant IP/MPLS core.
The 2016 Awards were presented at the MEF Excellence Awards Dinner as part of the MEF16 global networking conference held during 7–10 Nov 2016 at the Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor Hotel, Baltimore, Maryland, USA.
The judging panel for the MEF Excellence Awards was comprised of global and regional senior analysts from ATLANTIC-ACM, Current Analysis, Frost & Sullivan, IHS Markit, Metanoia, Ovum, SDxCentral, and Vertical Systems, in addition to independent judges.
“MEF congratulates the 2016 Award Winners for the outstanding work they are doing to advance service and technology innovation," said Kevin Vachon, Chief Operating Officer, MEF. "Judging was highly competitive this year, with 36 companies – including 19 service providers and 17 technology vendors – competing as Finalists for this year's awards."
“It is very exciting to be recognised with this prestigious award for Enterprise Application of the Year 2016,” said Vertel Managing Director Theo Belekas, who was in attendance at the gala ceremony to accept the award. “We have been on the global radar either as finalists or winners since 2012, and it’s very encouraging for the Vertel team to get this award this year too. It is a clear evidence that our hard work is recognised globally.”
