VIDEO Interview: Vertel’s National Tier III digital mobile radio network launches

Thursday, March 19, 2015

Vertel has launched Phase 1 of its first National Tier III Digital Mobile network, bringing significant advances in comms for primary industries and essential services.

Australian telecommunications carrier Vertel specialises in the design, build and operation of next generation network infrastructure and associated services.

An independent Australian company founded in 1973, it delivers network services to Government, Enterprise and Service Provider customers, comprising of ‘carrier grade and alternate telecommunications infrastructure in fringe metro, regional and remote Australia.’

Its latest announcement is a national roll out of a new Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) Tier III open standard trunked radio network, with the first phase competing after designing and testing over the last 12 months.

Following a vigorous multi-vendor evaluation, Vertel selected its long-time partner Tait Communications to help deliver its Australian-first network.

So, what can you do with a DMR or digital mobile radio network?

DMR networks enable a host of features to streamline operations, which will be especially beneficial to companies and public sector organisations operating across both regional and metro areas.

In the first phase of the roll-out plan, the Vertel DMR Tier III network will support Newcastle, Sydney, Wollongong and the surrounding regions.

In the second phase, the network will roll out in Melbourne and Perth, and ultimately grow to form a national network. The core infrastructure connecting this network is Vertel’s carrier grade MEF certified network, bringing mission critical standards to a commercial offering.

A third phase will expand the network further still, as explaned in the video interview.
