Vertel has achieved MEF Carrier Ethernet 2.0 (CE 2.0) certification
Australian telecommunications carrier Vertel has achieved MEF Carrier Ethernet 2.0 (CE 2.0) certification for its point-to-point (E-Line) service. Vertel is the first independent fixed-wireless carrier to receive the certification, and Telstra is the only other CE 2.0 certified telco in Australia.
MEF certification is awarded by the MEF (Metro Ethernet Forum) www.mef.net, a global industry alliance comprising more than 220 organisations including telecommunications service providers, cable operators, network equipment and software manufacturers, semiconductor vendors and testing organisations.
The quality of Vertel’s Carrier Ethernet service and its adherence to the MEF CE2.0 standard was verified by MEF-approved independent testing company Iometrix, which shows that the design, quality and performance of the Carrier Ethernet services are consistent globally, and conform to the highest and most up-do-date industry standards.
Andrew Findlay, Executive Director Vertel, said, “This achievement is important for three reasons: it confirms the suitability of our Etherwave (Carrier Ethernet) services for mission-critical applications; it gives our customers an increased assurance that our services adhere to strict quality and performance SLAs, and it assures our partners that our services can be easily interconnected and reliably integrated into the solutions they offer.”
CE2.0 certification ensures Vertel’s customers and service provider partners are being provided with carrier-grade Ethernet services supporting multiple classes of service (QoS/CoS) that are aligned with customer applications and SLAs.
Vertel’s customers: In addition to enabling faster and consistent provisioning of Ethernet services, CE2.0 certification facilitates global, end-to-end Ethernet service delivery over multiple provider networks with seamless interconnections, management and ultra-low latency performance.
Vertel’s channel partners: Due to the adherence to global standards, partners including the Vertel’s service as a component of their customer solution can ensure they are following industry best practice, as well as offering an important point of product differentiation. It greatly accelerates time to business, and is a fast track to joining the CE community and realising profitable new revenue from existing footprints.
Nan Chen, President of the MEF said, “The MEF congratulates Vertel for the outstanding achievement of meeting the demanding performance requirements of MEF CE 2.0 certification for its Ethernet service.”
“We are very proud of achieving this important certification,” said Mr Findlay. “It creates real and meaningful value for our customers and our partners.”
“We have over 40 years of experience in designing carrier grade wireless network services. Unlike our wireless competitors, we use carrier grade equipment and design our networks to global standards. This certification is a testimony that our customers and channel partners are working with a company that’s committed to industry best-practice, and provides them with standardised solutions.”
